My works utilize language, thread matrixes, photography, and video to explore shifting states of intimacy and alienation. I am interested in how the individual makes meaning out of the world, with the world, and in the world. Processes of appropriation, tracing, erasing, and reconstructing render the familiar unfamiliar, or vice versa. Installation and place are primary concerns. Source images come from private documents like personal letters and amateur artworks made by relatives or strangers as well as from iconic mass media imagery like the Wizard of Oz, the NASA Apollo Space Program, and public signage. Curious about psychoanalytical and philosophical discourse around, inter- and trans-subjectivity, I embrace collaboration.
