Artist Statement
This work is concentrated on the connection between elaboration and a lie – direct registration and the inevitable contingency of creative shaping. Life itself is an elaboration, an amalgamation of ornament and essence in conversation with boundaries and limitations. Beginning with a series of propositions, I am investigating the instability of growth and the uncertainty in novelty. I am exploring the figures of language as and within the architecture of belief and fiction.  My project is a return to intuition as a method for examining these complexities and recognizing them as creative forces of change. I am drawing analogies from the mechanics of nature, social and linguistic systems. As hopeful suggestions, these works act as part defense against and part forum for examining the daily grind.
