I approach a large white canvas with the same sense of intimacy and spontaneity as in my small line drawings. There is an idea inside one of my sketchbooks that can be translated into paint, or atleast it seems like it would. Ultimately, I never know how the paintings will turn out, and it is common for the finish coat of a piece to be sitting on top of 6 fairly worked up images.
