Artist Statement

In my recent work I attempt to examine the solace and security in our everyday routine against our simultaneous anxiety and fragility. A contridiction created by the repeating elements within a changing landscape. I have tried to recreate our daily movements in the landscape, using drawing to illustrate the foundation of life’s simplicity and intimacy while incorporating sculpture, installation, and animation to reflect its complexity. My hope is to find a situation where our simple routine mirrors the complex world. I am influenced by the changes that disrupt our daily routine, be they luck or tragedy; those events which challenge our assumptions and threaten our stability. What we may have taken for granted becomes memory. These notions have led me to question the frailty of a redundant system.
