Artist Statement

The drawings included in this portfolio, ‘Post Bros. Derelict Vehicle #s 1-10: Unintentional Ruins Rendered in Preparation for M49/Deep Cycle Mobile Transmission, Route 23’, are made from the study of vehicles central to the concept of the long-term research project, Deep Cycle. Deep Cycle occured as a mobile broadcast, a billboard and a book gathering together all writings, transcripts, drawings and other related documents. The ink & ash renderings are based on my visits to a central site among several points on the route devised for the project; Post Bros. wrecked car lot. The auto-corpse landscape of Post Bros. is significant to Deep Cycle, a place-interpretative project considering an emergent new landscape.

My work takes many forms and often employs methods of mobile radio transmission; a dislocation of fixed geography in practice and orientation. Drawing is my essential research method: the beginning of articulating thinking.
