Artist Statement

I work in the pursuit of penetrating my experiences and developing principles and visual forms. To achieve this, I have pursued a threefold path of painting, relief and sculpture, and film.

I draw, cut, paint, construct and manipulate forms and spaces.  The work often dictates what dimension I will go into.  My initial visual impressions and ideas expand and contract as I work.  The visibility of successive layers of paint, paper, cardboard and wood trace my general working method. The internal oscillation between the visible and invisible, positive and negative spaces, proximity and distance, and appearance and disappearance, influences my vision, and often makes any difinitive realization almost paradoxical.

My interest regardless of the medium, is to produce work which, by the humanity released, communicates my vision of the life experience.  The work in the end must speak for itself.
