My father was a Colonel and I make a living working for the Army. I didn't want the military culture to seep into my work, but it did. I feel general feelings of entrapment, but at the same time, pride, for performing the actions necessary to defend our nation.
Slathering plaster onto paper and canvas and then sanding, gouging, massaging and scraping are actions that cause pain and release pain at the same time. The process echoes the message.
