Using colored pencil, acrylic & graphite, these drawings employ a loose geometric language. They begin with a line and are created intuitively. Small in size but with an expansive feel, they draw you into their world of space and line. Mapping one’s thoughts, these playful works are personal documents of an inner nature.
Artist Bio / CV
Gary Petersen received a B.S. from Penn State University and his M.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts in New York. He has had solo exhibitions of his work at Michael Steinberg Gallery in New York, Genovese/Sullivan Gallery in Boston and Fusebox in Washington,D.C. His work has been in a number of group exhibitions including Jeff Bailey Gallery, Nicole Klagsbrun, Frederieke Taylor Gallery, White Columns and The American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York; Diverse Works, Texas; Vedanta Gallery, Chicago. His work has been reviewed in Art in America, The New York Times, The New York Sun, The Boston Globe and The Partisan Review. The artist lives in Hoboken, New Jersey and maintains a studio at The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in New York City.
