Artist Statement
My working process

For ten years I have been working exclusively with pencil and graphite acrylic. By limiting to these simplest of materials, allows me to produce a wide arry of possibilities. Form and content gain importance, as the line is independent from color and exists only from its character to be a line. The neutral coloring of the graphite tone leaves the drawn forms and contents abstract. This imaginary is defined by the interpretation and perception of the viewer. Multilayered relations are prossible and the viewer is challenged to find images from his/her own experience, in order to communicate with the drawing. Similar to writing, the drawing can be “read”.

Interpersonal relationships are the main topic of my drawings. How we interact with each other and the world, the human other, our ambitions and denials, our shortcomings, failures and successes, together with an ironic view of our behavior and cultural imprint.

Furthermore the material influences – natural or man-made – on our consciousness are subjects of my drawings. The drawings pick up these thematical and formal elements, commenting and playing with these forms. Forms and dynamical lines result, which are a selfsufficient counterpart and emerge self-reliant into the world.
