Artist Statement
The furniture started to play an organ piece, the sounds vibrating and echoing against the marble walls, making them move inside and out. He remembered that melody from the aquarium. Tubes and breathing machines sustaining him in a state of homeostasis. A microsystem, an alliance between organic and mechanic. Travelling through the filaments at the speed of light, he finally arrived at the boarder, surrounded by chains of mountains covered in snow. One of them was wounded, leaking mist through her craters. He could see it from above, from a crow’s point of view, like looking through a crystal ball where the past and the future were part of the same cloud. The horizon melted into a thin black line like a thread sewn on grey canvas. He had learned the stories of this country, identified with its heros and reformers. It was them and their legends he was looking for at first on this new land. Black lights were illuminating his way as he saw cathedral tops and dark towers growing in the forest. The poeple had abandoned their homes and the trees had been severed, as if they too had been re-rooted elsewhere. Nature turned black and the sun white. White and transparent like a crystal, remodelling the surface of the earth. Time froze but he continued his path on what increasingly resembled a lunar landscape. His perspectives fused into one black hole. A cosmos or a tiny particule. Fragments of organic life subsisted, floating in the atmosphere like meteors coming from an unknown universe; matter living through time and space, witness of his imagination. A presence, perhaps another unidentified traveller, a transmission of reality. He kept walking, his body advancing effortlessly, as if the new dimension he was entering could sustain him forever. A white light opened in the skies. A passage way emitting some kind of message. A frequency that he could receive and to which he was attracted. In this space, gravity and geometry reorientated as the ground sank beneath his feet.
