Artist Statement

I have been working on drawing with strings, which is part of my drawing series, and trying to expand the possibility of the media itself of drawing.

In this series, I use lines to resemble strings and the lines are also considered as things. If you look around, objects, systems or society or even the world could be said that they have lines to make them.Things consist of the lines and they are the entanglement of different kinds of lines, which means that perspectives and characteristics could be changed by drawing lines. For example, auxiliary lines change how they look completely. It also resembles Bricolage.

One of the important characteristics of lines is that it makes it possible to change the place and the space where the lines are drawn. My attempt is to reach the point where the things change and to make it impossible to tell the difference between the act of drawing and the world's altered formation, which is expressed by the way of drawing lines and the subtle gaps (bug). The lines I draw are not the ones that I can plan to draw from one to another, but the boundary lines which create a unique world as drawn and also the ones that deviate from the structure and the order that previously gave the appearance (linge de fruite).

Not just copying the reality but reporting the accumulating cracks and the changes by adding the lines is all about the recognition of the reality, the relationship between the real life, and the acts in the real world which happen provisionally through my art.
