My work focuses on representing the natural world and most often the human form directly or derivatively. These sculptures and drawings range from the formal portrait of a loved one to the abstract relief stele in which the body is only evidenced through impression. I am examining the ambiguous, whether it’s the drawing of skin that is reminiscent of a rock formation or the bronze edifice displayed in the tracks left by someone crawling through several yards of mud. Nature has things it returns to, patterns, shapes, colors and textures. The way skin folds when a hand is bent and the way earth folds with the shifting of tectonic plates are hard to distinguish at particular points of observation. My goal is to find these points of intersection and in them poetry.
