Artist Statement
My work draws on the stories I grew about hearing about my father's childhood garden in Tehran: a walled landscape full of figs and roses with a fountain in the center. Unable to visit or return to Iran, I have established a connection with my homeland through recreating the garden paradises I've come to know only through stories. Questions such as sight, speech, power, gender construction, and symbolism drive the investigation behind my work.
