Artist Statement

My studio practice explores how forgotten historical narratives have been re-interpreted and re-introduced into cultures as folklore.  I also explore folklore's ideological underpinnings and implications by claiming current and historical events as my own and connecting them to my personal experience as a mother.  Through drawing, installation and public projects, I create new historical narratives that are more relevant to contemporary culture.
